Hi Ellen,
Just wondering if you have written about Edna.

Hi Cousin: No I haven’t done one for Edna, but there may be one upcoming called “The Ladies of Purity.” I didn’t know Edna as well as I knew Ruth, and these stories only happen when they want to. They’re stubborn like Petersons.

Dear Ellen,
Congratulations on opening the 2018 MTC season. I just retired from teaching and directing high school theatre. I remember my early days at River East Collegiate fondly – the Mime show, Pippin, Godspell. So much talent from that school! I have recently connected with Dean G and Vern T on Facebook.
Cheers,
Mrs. Susan Quinton

Thanks Mrs. Quinton! Great to hear from you. Retired? At 40? Good for you! I still feel like I’m in high school. What a weird feeling having a play produced at MTC when I have seen so many plays there. I’ve had plays produced in other theatres but I used to go to MTC in high school, so it felt different somehow. Sat there thinking “look at little me writing this great big play!” It was a good experience all in all. Over the holidays I had Sheryl Dickson and Janice Brown over for tea. It’s great to keep in touch. Be well!

Hi Ellen, I stumbled across your blog in part trying to track something down from the Wine & Words event in 2013. Any chance you wrote a poem for that about sudoku and a doctor’s office?

Why yes, I did! That piece is called Trauma, and I keep thinking I should re-write it as a blog post. Glad you stumbled across.

My experience with Thompson is that a friend and I planned a road trip where we would drive from Texas to Thompson and back in 72 hours, only stopping for gas. Some kind of family matters came up and we didn’t go but we were within hours of going.

THAT would be a trip! Maybe you’ll get to go someday. I think there are better hotels in Thompson now than there were in 1989.

Hey Ellen,
For whatever reason, you ended up in my emails. You were asking someone about their Sense and Sensibility adaptation🤔.
I couldn’t remember the last time we spoke so I looked up past comments. That was 2018! Holey (sp) Mackeral time flies!
I read your, “Dad was a Tackle” and remembered your brother Murray using Twitch as his subject when we did the dreaded speeches in school, only Murray liked the GreenBay Packers and he used that team as I recall. His speech made us laugh and I never forgot the story of Twitch escaping the clutches of a shadowy figure. I think he got an A for the speech😏.
Anyway, a lot has happened since we’ve touched base. I,my husband and three of the kids(all in different locations;Yarmouth, two in Truro and we live in Plympton, a little blink from Digby) moved to Nova Scotia thanks to Covid.
How’s Life for you? Hope all is well. Happy New Year and may it be your best year yet🇨🇦

So bizarre! I don’t know how this happened. bUt it’s nice to hear from you for whatever reason. I was in Nova Scotia in the fall. I have worked there several times over the years and now have some good friends near Halifax. Life is good here! Our daughter is studying in Toronto and our son is working full time here in Winnipeg. Murray is a grandpa times 5, with another on the way. Yikes.
Take care and give my regards to the ocean!
Ellen
